Protecting our School System
Thank you to everyone who reached out in response to the February 17 letter emailed by Burr and Burton Chair of the Board of Trustees Ed Campbell '70 and Headmaster Mark Tashjian concerning legislation challenging Vermont's educational system. Five Things That Matter with Meg Chandler '13
Work in international development felt as natural to Meg Chandler ’13 as going to work for the family business. Born in Bangkok, and spending her early years in Burma, Meg and her brother James ’10 moved with their family to Dorset in 1999. After watching her parents dedicate their careers to international service, Meg said she always knew that she would spend her career in a similar way.
Meg graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2017 with a BA in Global Studies. While there, she conducted research for her senior thesis in Nepal, Burma, Kenya, and Tanzania, studying street art through the lenses of colonialism, nationalism, and globalization.
For the next five years, she worked in Washington DC in international development and humanitarian aid for Tetra Tech, a United States Agency of International Development (USAID) contractor, and Mercy Corps, an NGO focused on humanitarian aid. At Tetra Tech, Meg had the opportunity to work in Afghanistan supporting two USAID programs on short-term technical assignments—Promote: Women’s Leadership Development Program (WLD) and the Initiative to Strengthen Local Administrations.
Join us for Giving Day on April 6
You’re invited to join us on Thursday, April 6 for our second annual Burr and Burton Giving Day. For 193 years, alumni have set the foundation for Burr and Burton’s success. We ask you to continue that tradition with a gift on April 6. Generous donors have already pledged matching gifts to help you double the impact of your gift on Giving Day. Last year, more than 100 donors stepped up to give on Burr and Burton’s first-ever Giving Day, exceeding our goal for alumni donations and qualifying for more than $12,000 in matching gifts. Spring Musical - March 14-18
Burr and Burton Performing Arts presents A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, on March 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Riley Center for the Arts. Based on the classic plays of ancient Roman playwright Plautus, the musical considered Broadway’s greatest farce was originally produced by Harold Prince on Broadway and features a book by Burt Shevelove, Larry Gelbart, and a score by Stephen Sondheim. Don’t miss out on this irreverent musical that takes comedy back to its roots, combining 2000-year-old comedies, with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. This unforgettable, hysterical musical allows a terrific ensemble of comedic actors to shine – "something for everyone, a comedy tonight!” Tickets can be purchased at BBAtickets.com. Thank you to our Spring Musical sponsor, Northshire Bookstore.
