Mountain Campus Expands to Offer Integrative Courses

Building on momentum from a fall semester where more than 400 students were able participate in orientation, leadership retreats, and other experiential coursework, the BBA Mountain Campus is excited to offer a selection of two-credit, double block integrative learning courses that will be hosted at the Peru campus during the 2025-26 school year.
An immersive, four-credit semester program will be offered in the 2026-27 school year.

The Mountain Campus Working Group, established in the spring of 2024 as the semester program began a year-long pause, reviewed program feedback from students, parents and alumni. The group then created a framework for an expanded program that would include two-credit, double block integrative learning courses in addition to an immersive semester experience.

The working group developed the following mission statement for the expanded Mountain Campus: The BBA Mountain Campus immerses students in real-world learning focused on the interdependence of human and natural communities. Students are empowered to deepen their relationship with the world around them through the integration of environmental studies, leadership practice, reflection, and community partnerships.

In collaboration with academic leadership, Burr and Burton faculty and staff are developing proposals for two-credit, integrative learning courses. Possible course topics may include Climate Science, Environmental Literature, Outdoor Adventure and Leadership, Resource Economics, Landscape Art and more.

Look out for these new course offerings when the 2025-26 Course of Study is released in February 2025.
