Radium Girls Cast and Crew Sit Down with NYC-based Actress Mary Bacon
The Radium Girls company was fortunate to be visited by guest teaching artist Mary Bacon who originated the role of Grace Fryer in D.W. Gregory's Radium Girls, produced by Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey and developed with a commissioning grant from The Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project. In addition to sharing her experience, Mary also had a conversation with the cast about the importance of collaboration in the creative process, and what the life of a performing artist is like in NYC, and beyond.
She also met with BBA's Page to Stage class, a newly created class, team-taught by Peter Nicholson and Jim Raposa that explores the creative process of writing, acting, and public speaking and offered feedback on originally written rants, and satirical new stories. Mary also offered her expertise as a director when she worked with a multi-level acting class in a workshop environment as they presented their scene work. Without BBA's support experiences like this do not happen for the students.
