Tuition at Burr and Burton

The sending town tuition for the 2024-25 school year is $20,966 for families residing in: Danby, Dorset, Dover, Londonderry, Landgrove, Manchester, Mt. Tabor, Peru, Stratton, Sunderland, Wardsboro, Weston, and Winhall. Families that are approved as primary residents of a sending town do not need any form of financial aid as the sending town tuition is paid through state property taxes.

The 2024-25 non-sending town or private-pay tuition is $23,589. This tuition applies to families who do not live in a BBA sending town. For those in towns that pay the state average tuition for students to attend BBA, the preliminary average estimate for the 2024-25 school year is $19,774, leaving a balance of $3,815.

Historically, the following towns have annually approved paying the state per-pupil average: Mendon, Middletown Springs, Mount Holly/Ludlow, Pawlet, Rupert, Rutland Town, Sandgate, and Wells.

If you have questions regarding payments from any of these towns, please contact the respective town office.

Merit Scholarships and Financial Aid

Those not residing in a sending town may want to consider our scholarship and financial aid options.

For local families living in partial-paying communities, Burr and Burton offers the Belltower Merit Scholarship. Student-applicants must complete an academic record review, written essay, and reference check to be considered.

Local families living in non-paying communities may apply for both the Belltower Merit Scholarship and financial aid through Smart Aid, which provides a need-based analysis including a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. The service does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give.  Applications are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee, which makes decisions based on available funds and sends offers to applicants. All students who are awarded financial aid must reapply each year, and all financial aid application information is kept confidential.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please be aware that financial aid awards do not cover special education services for students who attend Burr and Burton as private pay students (those who live outside of Burr and Burton’s traditional sending towns). If your child currently receives support services as outlined within an IEP or Educational Support plan of any kind beyond those provided to the general student population, a parent or guardian will be billed and held responsible for the cost of these additional services. Additionally, if your child is not currently on an educational support plan, but it is determined that they would benefit from accessibility services their parent or guardian would also be responsible for these costs.
